2nd 6 Weeks Homework Assignments!!

Drawing 1/2 Sketchbook Assignments 2nd 6 weeks
Sketchbook #1: Free Draw – 11X14 – use large sketchbook or paper
Due: Oct 15 at beginning of class
Choose any topic/technique that interests you and create a drawing that fills the entire
page.
Assignment will be graded using the following rubric:
20 points – composition is interesting and makes good use of the entire page
20 points – good craftsmanship
10 points – overall effort and evidence of time spent on project

Sketchbook #2, #3, and #4: Developing a Series…3 drawings, 50 points each
Due: Monday Oct 21, Oct 28, and Nov 4 at the beginning of class
I want you to select one of the themes below. You will create a series of three drawings
on the same theme. Each drawing should interpret the selected theme in a different
way, but all will use the same theme.
Please pick one of these themes to work with:
· Help!
· Jackets, blankets, and sheets
· Things found on restaurant napkins
· It’s raining dogs and cats
· Revenge
· Trading forever
· Dirigibles and submersibles
· Capture the flag
· Double it up
· In 5 minutes…
· Adhere to me
· Caffeine and Sugar
· Science project gone wrong

Presentation and Grading: 3 drawings = 150 points
Please make sure that all drawings are in your sketchbook--don’t turn in loose pages.
Put your name and the name of the assignment on the back of the drawing. If they are
in various places in the book, mark the ones that you want me to grade with a stickie note
so that I am sure to find them. Remember, all three drawings should relate to one
theme - you’re developing a series, DON’T do three separate topics.

Each Assignment will be graded using the following rubric:
5 points – creative interpretation of the selected theme for series
15 points – composition is interesting and makes good use of the entire page
20 points – good craftsmanship
10 points – overall effort and evidence of time spent on project

Critique will be Tuesday Nov 5 - Please don't be absent!!
